Roleplay - Pair Work:

Prepare a 2-minute dialogue between 2 students your age, one from Israel and the other from abroad. Present your work to your classmates.
You can prepare your dialogue as a comic strip or use avatars in Voki.
 

 The following items can help you:

1. Cool greetings and introduction
(Hi, I am Gali, I'm pleased to meet you Brenda; I am in my room now, I tried to tidy it to impress you… ;
my school is not far from here;  I know that you have a long weekend, in Israel, it's different because we go to school on Sundays;  my home is quite noisy, Arik, my brother is a drummer and Yael, my older sister plays the piano…)
 

2. Break the ice with small talk
(how is the summer in Boston? Here it is so hot, we keep the AC on for hours; my favorite season is the winter because…; can you see the Maroon 5 on the poster behind me? This is the best band ever…; we just got back to school from a great trip to the Negev) 
 

3. Show interest
(I'd love to hear about your school, what is your major? Do you have time for sports?  That's fascinating, can you tell me a little more about your baseball team? ask questions about after school activities, favorite place
 

4. Always be polite:

• I beg your pardon.

• Could you speak more slowly, please?

• Could you repeat that, please?

• What do you mean by that?

• You’re welcome.

• I appreciate it.

• My apologies.

• It’s my pleasure.

• Don’t mention it.

• Don’t worry about it.
